Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

The playoffs have started for several Princeton recruits, and Alex Riche and Colin Tonge have already moved on to the second round.

Josh Melnick still leads the USHL in assists, and the Phantoms are on a 12-game winning streak.

Here’s more from this week’s Princeton hockey recruit roundup:

BCHL:

The Merritt Centennials were swept by the Vernon Vipers in the first round of the playoffs. Josh Teves finished the postseason with two assists

CCHL:

Gloucester fell 6-4 in its regular-season finale. Max Veronneau recorded an assist and Joey Fallon scored a goal. Ryan Kuffner has missed the last few games.

The Rangers started their playoff series with Kemptville, and Fallon recorded four points (2g, 2a) and Max Veronneau added a goal.

OJHL:

Cobourg and Kingston swept their first-round series. Alex Riche recorded one goal and three assists in the series win over Whitby, while Colin Tonge netted one goal for Kingston.

NAHL:

Austin Shaw started all three games over the past week. On Tuesday, Shaw made 25 saves in a 7-4 win. He stopped 21 of 22 shots in a 3-1 win over Wenatchee on Friday and played 11:05 minutes in Saturday’s win.

USHL:

Josh Melnick recorded two points (1g, 1a) in Friday’s 7-3 win and added an assist on Saturday. Melnick is fifth in scoring in the USHL and is on a 10-game points streak with 20 points (4g, 16a) over that stretch.

Recruit Roundup

Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

Princeton hockey recruit Josh Melnick recorded a five-point game on Saturday, reaching the 50-point mark for the season.

St. Andrew’s College defenseman Reid Yochim committed to Princeton.

AJHL:

Spencer Kryczka recorded two assists on Tuesday the game-winning overtime goal on Friday and a goal on Saturday. Over the three-game point streak, he has four points (2g, 2a). The Kodiaks finished the regular season with a franchise-best 48 wins. Camrose’s 100 points sit on top of the Viterra AJHL South division.

CCHL:

Joey Fallon recorded two goals on Friday while Max Veronneau recorded an assist. On Sunday the roles were switched, with Veronneau scoring twice and Fallon netting the assist. Ryan Kuffner did not play on Saturday or Sunday. Fallon also recorded a goal on Saturday.

Neil Doef and his family watched the Smiths Falls Bears defeat Kemptville on Friday.

NAHL:

Austin Shaw started both games over the weekend. He mad 30 stops on 34 shots in an overtime loss on Friday, and stopped 36 of 38 shots in a Saturday overtime win. He earned the team’s hard hat.

OJHL:

Kingston and Cobourg have both started the playoffs. Riche recorded an assist on Wednesday and a goal on Saturday. Colin Tonge had a goal on Thursday.

Prep:

The Saints won the CISAA by defeating Nichols 4-3. Yochim has 18 points over 50 games with St. Andrews College.

USHL:

Melnick had an assist on Friday before his five-point night. The forward is on an eight-game point streak, with 17 points (3g, 14a) over that period. He had a natural hat trick in Saturday’s win.

Princeton hockey recruit Max Veronneau was named the CCHL Player of the Week after recording eight points (3g, 4a) over three games.

AJHL:

Spencer Kryczka recorded an assist on Monday.

BCHL:

Josh Teves recorded an assist on Sunday.

CCHL:

In Friday’s win, Ryan Kuffner recorded three points (2g, 1a), Max Veronneau had two points (1g, 1a) and Joey Fallon added a goal. Kuffner followed with another three-point performance (1g, 2a). Veronneau had three assists and Fallon added one on Sunday.

Kuffner has 15 points (7g, 8a)  over a nine-game scoring streak. Veronneau now averages 1.43 points per game.

Veronneau had a tally at No. 9 on this week’s CCHL top goals:

NAHL:

Austin Shaw started in two of three games last week. He allowed seven goals on 41 shots in a loss on Friday, and rebounded with 37 saves on 40 shots in a Saturday win.

OJHL:

Alex Riche scored a goal on Friday. Colin Tonge recorded an assist on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, he had a goal and an assist.

Prep:

Jake Paganelli now has two more goals and two more assists for 52 points on the season.

USHL:

Josh Melnick recorded an assist on Thursday, Saturday and three on Sunday. He’s on a six-game scoring streak, and leads the USHL in assists.

Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

Here’s this week’s Princeton hockey recruit roundup:

AJHL:

Spencer Kryczka recorded an assist on Wednesday, a goal on Friday and added an assist on Sunday. He’s on a three-game point streak and has scored in seven of the last nine games.

BCHL:

Josh Teves recorded goal and an assist on Wednesday and the game-winning overtime goal on Friday.

CCHL:

Joey Fallon recorded a three-point game (2g, 1a) on Friday, while Ryan Kuffner tallied a goal and Max Veronneau netted an assist. On Sunday, Kuffner scored a goal.

Fallon has scored eight goals over the past nine games, while Kuffner is on a four-game point streak. Over the past 11 games, he’s scored 18 points (9g, 9a). Both Fallon and Kuffner are tied for fourth in the CCHL with 29 goals.

NAHL

Austin Shaw stopped 17 of 20 shots in a 4-3 overtime win on Wednesday.

OJHL

Colin Tonge recorded a goal on Thursday.

USHL

Josh Melnick recorded two assists on Sunday.

It was a good week for Cobourg’s Alex Riche, who recorded a hat trick on Friday, helping the Cougars to a 5-4 win.

AJHL:

Spencer Kryczka recorded an assist on Friday.

BCHL:

Josh Teves netted an assist on Friday.

CCHL:

Joey Fallon scored the lone Gloucester goal on Friday, and Ryan Kuffner assisted on the play. On Saturday, Max Veronneau netted two goals and an assist. Kuffner added a goal and an assist, and Fallon an assist.

NAHL:

Austin Shaw appeared in relief in Friday’s loss, and stopped seven on nine shots. On Saturday, Shaw made 26 saves in the win.

OJHL:

Recruits Alex Riche and Colin Tonge faced off on Jan. 26, and Riche recorded an assist. On Friday, Riche recorded five points, including a hat trick in a 5-4 win over Pickering. He added a goal on Sunday and is now on a four-game point streak.

Prep:

Jake Paganelli recorded a goal last week in the team’s split with Culver.
