Recruit Roundup

There’s been a lot of news since the last recruit roundup. The Tigers received several new commits, one from Jeremy Germain and another from Corey Andonovski. Jackson Cressey, Matt Thom and Colin Tonge were also named to Canada’s WJAC selection camp rosters.

Here’s Princeton hockey recruit roundup:

BCHL:

Jackson Cressey returned from his injury on Nov. 18 against Penticton. He recorded his first point after his return when Coquitlam beat Wenatchee 4-1 on Nov. 20. Cressey has a hat trick on Nov. 27 against Prince Geroge. He added a goal the night after and is currently second on the team with 34 points.

Jeremy Germain, who committed to Princeton in November, has 15 points this season.

CISSA:

Reid Yochim finished November with nine points (2g, 7a). St. Andrew’s College also strung together a four-game winning streak in the month. His teammate, Corey Andonovski, has

NAHL:

Jake Paganelli had an assist in a Nov. 13 win over Bismark and another on Nov. 20. The next night, Paganelli scored a goal against Bismark. He’s currently on a two-game point streak after recording an assist and then a goal and an assist in a two-game set against Minot.

Joey Fallon recorded an assist in an overtime loss to Corpus Christi on Nov. 19. He’s currently on a seven-game scoreless streak.

OJHL:

Liam Grande returned to action at the end of Novemeber, playing in a 5-3 win over Toronto. He netted an assist the next night, and had a three-point game (1g, 2a) against Goergetown and fellow Princeton recruit Matt Thom on Nov. 28. Grande also had an assist on Nov. 30.

Derek Topatigh had a three-game point streak in November, where he scored a goal, a goal and an assist, and another goal over the stretch. He’s on a four-game point streak currently. After a goal and an assist in a win over Mississauga, Topatigh has recorded an assist in three-straight games. He’s Orangeville’s highest-scoring defenseman.

USHL

Jack Adams recorded a goal on Nov. 11. He’s currently on a three-game point streak after scoring a goal against Sioux Falls, an assist against Madison on Saturday and a goal against Madison on Sunday.

U18:

Doug Connor started two of the past four games – both last weekend – and now has four wins on the season. He backstopped the P.A.L. Junior Islanders to a 5-1 win on Dec. 5, making 22 saves. He made 24 saves in a 3-2 overtime win on Dec. 6

Recruit Roundup

Princeton received two commitments in the past few weeks – one from the BCHL’s Jackson Cressey and the other from Christian O’Neill. Several Princeton recruits were also named to the CCHL All-Star Cup Challenge.

BCHL:

Jackson Cressey is tied for Coquitlam’s scoring lead but didn’t play last week.

CISAA:

Reid Yochim  recorded a goal in St. Andrew’s season-opening win

OJHL:

Liam Grande has not played since Sept. 29. Matt Thom recorded an assist against Milton on Oct. 30 and added two assists in an Oct. 31 win over Burlington. Colin Tonge scored a goal in a Nov. 5 loss to Stouffville. Derek Topatigh has three goals in his last three games, including a two-goal night against the Toronto J. Canadiens. The trio were named to the CCHL All-Star Cup Challenge.

NAHL: 

Joey Fallon had an assist in the Oct. 30 win over Amarillo and a goal in the Oct. 31 win over the Bulls. Jake Paganelli had a goal and an assist in  Nov. 7 win over Coulee Region.

TI18U:

Christian O’Neill had a goal on Nov. 8.

USHL:

Jack Adams recorded an assist in each of Fargo’s last two games against Des Moines.

USPHL: 

Doug Connor played in two games over the last three weeks, playing both games last weekend against the Skipjacks Hockey Club. On Saturday Connor made 32 saves in a 7-3 loss and added 42 saves in Saturday’s 5-3 loss.

Recruit Roundup

Liam Grande committed to Princeton for the 2016-17 season, giving the Tigers four commits in the OJHL.

Here’s how Princeton’s recruits fared this week:

OJHL:

New commit Liam Grande hasn’t played since Sept. 29. He has nine points (6g, 3a) this season. Derek Topatigh scored a goal against North York on Saturday. Colin Tonge has not played since Oc. 15.

NAHL:

Joey Fallon has not played since Oct. 9, and Jake Paganelli did not play this past weekend.

USPHL:

Doug Connor made 40 saves on 47 shots in his team’s 7-3 loss on Saturday.

NAHL:

Joey Fallon is on a three-game point streak. He added an assist in a 6-1 win and two points (1g, 1a) in a 7-2 win as Lone Star swept Amarillo. Fellow recruit Jake Paganelli is also on a three-game point streak. He recorded an assist against the Wilderness last weekend and added an assist against Minot on Friday and a goal on Saturday.

OJHL:

Colin Tonge recorded two points (1g, 1a) in a 3-2 win over Aurora on Oct. 8. Derek Topatigh is Orangeville’s highest-scoring defenseman. He has four assists in his last four games. Topatigh netted an assist against Trenton on Oct. 10, added an assist on Oct. 17 and recorded two assists on Oct. 18.

USHL:

Jack Adams netted his first USHL goal on Oct. 9. He finished with three points over the last two weeks, adding an assist against Cedar Rapids and Bloomington.

USPHL:

Doug Connor played twice two weekends ago. On Oct. 10, he made 30 saves in a 7-2 loss to the Rochester Junior Americans. He followed with a 30-save performance in a 2-1 loss to the Junior Bruins U18. They were Connor’s first losses of the season.

Recruit Roundup

Junior hockey is completely underway, and so are Princeton’s recruits. Six recruits scored this week as the NAHL, OJHL and USHL have started regular-season play.

NAHL:

After being cut by the Green Bay Gamblers, Jake Paganelli joined the Austin Bruins. He recorded three points (2g, 2a) as the Bruins finished the NAHL Showcase 2-1.

Last week, Joey Fallon netted three points over four games. He recorded two assists in a 3-2 win over Minnesota, his first multi-point NAHL game. Fallon has four points through five games this season.

OJHL:

Defenseman Derek Topatigh netted an assist last week. Matt Thom also recorded an assist, as Georgetown went 2-1 over the week. Forward Colin Tonge scored four goals over three games last week, and netted two goals in a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Patriots.

USHL:

Fargo opened up the season with a 4-3 loss to Sioux City. Jack Adams recorded an assist.

Jack Adams, Jake Paganelli Named To USHL Protected Rosters

Princeton hockey recruits Jake Paganelli and Jack Adams were named to Green Bay and Fargo’s protected rosters, respectively.

The USHL released the 30-player protected lists on Sept 1, and the rosters will be narrowed to 23 by Sept. 21 .

Paganelli just completed his career at Shattuck and will join Princeton in the fall of 2016. Adams, a 2017 recruit, made Fargo’s roster out of the team’s June camp.

Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

It’s been a busy two weeks for Princeton recruits. Some finished with their playoffs, while others just started. The Tigers also picked up a big commitment from Malden Catholic right wing Jack Adams.

Here’s more from this week’s Princeton hockey recruit roundup:

AJHL:

Camrose took its series with a 3-2 OT win against Drumheller on March 19, The Kodiaks started their series with the Brooks Bandits, and hold a 2-0 lead in the series. Spencer Kryzcka recorded a goal and an assist in Camrose’s second win of the series.

CCHL:

The Rangers were swept by Ottawa in their second playoff series, and were shut out in their last loss.

OJHL:

Cobourg’s series against Trenton went to six games, with the Cougars falling 2-1 in the last game. Alex Riche recorded one assist in the series.

After defeating Aurora, Kingston is currently tied in its series with Trenton 1-1. Colin Tonge had a two-goal game in Kingston’s 7-1 win over Aurora, and added a goal and an assist in the series-clinching 6-2 win.

NAHL:

Austin Shaw made 39 saves in a 6-1 win over Amarilo. He earned a couple of losses against Lone Star, stopping 25 of 30 shots one night and making 14 of 16 saves the next. Wichita Falls will play the Killer Bees in a best-of-three series to start the playoffs.

Prep:

Shattuck St. Mary’s made the USA U-18 tournament, where it defeated Amherst 11-0 and fell to the N.J. Avalanche 5-4 before the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Shattuck beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 4-2, but fell to the Connecticut Wolf Pack 4-1 in the semifinals. Jake Paganelli finished the tournament with one goal and four assists.

USHL:

The Phantoms extended their winning streak to 17games before falling to Omaha. Josh Melnick recorded a goal in  Youngstown’s win on March 20, added an assist on March 22 and a goal in the loss to Omaha.

Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

Most of Princeton’s recruits are in the middle of their postseasons. Merritt and Josh Teves were eliminated, but Camrose, Kingston, Gloucester and Cobourg are still in the playoffs.

Derek Topatigh also committed to Princeton last week.

CCHL

Gloucester advanced past Kemptville with two wins. Joey Fallon recorded four points (2g, 2a) in the first win, while Max Veronneau scored a goal. Veronneau followed with two points (1g, 1a) in the second win, including the assist on the overtime goal.

The Rangers trail their second series 2-0. So far Fallon had an assist in each of the first two games. Ryan Kuffner has not returned to the lineup.

NAHL:

Austin Shaw did not play this week, and was not dressed as the backup in the last two games.

Prep:

Shattuck St. Mary’s and Jake Paganelli will participate in nationals, which will take place in Buffalo from Mach 26-30. The team defeated Bauer Emerson in the U18 semifinals 9-0 on Wednesday, and followed with a 3-2 championship win over the Minnesota Blades.

USHL:

The Phantoms are on a 14-game winning streak, but Josh Melnick‘s point streak was snapped at 10 games. On Saturday, he recorded two assists.

Princeton Hockey Recruit Roundup

Princeton hockey recruit Max Veronneau was named the CCHL Player of the Week after recording eight points (3g, 4a) over three games.

AJHL:

Spencer Kryczka recorded an assist on Monday.

BCHL:

Josh Teves recorded an assist on Sunday.

CCHL:

In Friday’s win, Ryan Kuffner recorded three points (2g, 1a), Max Veronneau had two points (1g, 1a) and Joey Fallon added a goal. Kuffner followed with another three-point performance (1g, 2a). Veronneau had three assists and Fallon added one on Sunday.

Kuffner has 15 points (7g, 8a)  over a nine-game scoring streak. Veronneau now averages 1.43 points per game.

Veronneau had a tally at No. 9 on this week’s CCHL top goals:

NAHL:

Austin Shaw started in two of three games last week. He allowed seven goals on 41 shots in a loss on Friday, and rebounded with 37 saves on 40 shots in a Saturday win.

OJHL:

Alex Riche scored a goal on Friday. Colin Tonge recorded an assist on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, he had a goal and an assist.

Prep:

Jake Paganelli now has two more goals and two more assists for 52 points on the season.

USHL:

Josh Melnick recorded an assist on Thursday, Saturday and three on Sunday. He’s on a six-game scoring streak, and leads the USHL in assists.
