Former Princeton defenseman Kyle Hagel signed with the Portland Pirates, the team announced Monday.
Hagel spent the 2012-13 season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, where he finished with 162 penalty minutes and six points (2g, 4a) in 67 games. The 28-year-old also spent time with the Peoria Rivermen, Rockford Icehogs and Rochester Americans of the AHL over the past five years.
While at Princeton, Hagel finished with 24 points and won the team’s 1941 Championship Trophy in 2008. He is also a co-founder of Hockey Players For Kids, a non-profit organization.
