We’re counting down the days until Princeton hockey’s season opener by featuring a different player each day. Since there’s 19 days until the season’s start, today’s spotlight is on forward Kyle Rankin.
What you need to know: Rankin spent two years with Kanata of the CCHL in 2009-11. Over those two years he scored 123 points over 120 games. He recorded 81 of those points in 65 games with Kanata in 2010-11.
Last year: The Kanata, Ontario native registered six points (1g, 5a) through 29 games — a total T-2 in scoring amongst Princeton freshmen.
USHL: Rankin spent 2011-12 with the Sioux Falls Stampede, where his 34 points (16g, 18a) led the team in scoring.
Last year Rankin was shoe-checked when the Tigers were on their way to Vermont, so he had to sing a song.
